ABOUT ME
I spent a great deal of time with my mother in our household kitchen and backyard garden as a child growing up in London, Ontario. In elementary school, I continued learning about human nutrition and cooking through our schoolyard vegetable garden and making simple meals as a class like soup from scratch using the vegetables we grew. Later on as my interest in science and research developed, pursuing a career as a Registered Dietitian (RD) seemed like the perfect fit. I have never looked back - my job is fun, rewarding and enjoyable!
After completing my Bachelor of Science Honors Specialization in Nutrition and Dietetics (an accredited program for the RD career pathway at Western University), I went on to complete a yearlong Dietetic Internship at University Health Network (UHN) in Toronto. While doing my undergraduate degree I was fortunate to participate in some interesting nutrition research projects and clinical trials in France and East Africa.
In hospitals, a Registered Dietitian is regarded as the primary nutrition expert and a required member of the interdisciplinary medical team. I believe the same need exists outside the hospital setting – nutrition services are a primary healthcare need. My private practice exists to help fill this need before it becomes a clinical issue if possible. As a Registered Dietitian, I am trained to review all the new literature and research on food and nutrition and translate it for you into easy to understand healthy eating advice that is actionable.
